With the onset of the summer months and the bringing of the hot weather plus kids being out of school, a swimming pool is a great way to relax and to stay cool.
But with a pool, you must be responsible for not only the upkeep, but the safety of your guests.
1) Put a fence around the pool or around the yard to keep the neighbors out. I know when I was growing up, one of the most exciting things to do was to sneak into the neighbors yard in the middle of the night to swim in their pool.
2) All approved guests, make sure they know how to swim. Even if they are in a couple of feet deep, they could still drown.
3) Always watch the kids while they are in the pool. Make sure they and adult kids are not diving into the pool at the shallow end.
4) Stress proper pool behavior. No running, no dunking, no rough play.
5) Always wear sunscreen
6) Keep the pool clean -- no soiled diapers
7) Don't keep electrical equipment near the pool
8) Stay away from the drains
There are manyy other common sense rules that you should follow to make your perfect day an enjoyable one, and not having it turn into a nightmare.
